It’s a time of year that everything is centered around cookies, cocktails and holiday festivities. The holiday season is also known as and followed by ‘flu season’.
What is Health, what does “Health” really mean?
Despite the definition, everyone’s version of “Healthy” looks different. What does health mean to you?
Wellness, healthy eating, exercise, meditation and breathwork, relationships, happiness and limiting stress and contaminants all play a role in one’s overall health and well-being.
There’s great information out there and some misinformation. Fad diets and extremes that seem unrealistic for daily life as we know it.
We belong to a concierge medical practice. I was connecting with the doctor and here was the advice he offered regarding food..
Of course, it goes without saying to limit processed foods and junk but he said: listen to your body. The more in tune you are with yourself the more you will be able to self lead your journey to optimal health and wellness.
What is your favorite part of your health and wellness routine? What do you intend to improve upon now and into the new year?
My Plan
For me, I love my morning routine. Salt Sole and Lemon water to start my day (2 large glasses). I stretch and do a little bit of yoga daily and then strength train a few days per week. I’ve eliminated almost all seed oils from my diet in recent months and make sure I’m getting enough protein at every meal.
Going forward, I intend to be more consistent with my workouts. I have some meditation and breath work goals. I also intend to meal prep more! It’s going into a very busy season- my hope is that we all make as many healthy choices as we can and enjoy the most wonderful time of the year!
Staying Healthy and Enjoying the Holiday Fun
There are a few things we can do to stay healthy while enjoying all of the holiday fun.
- Stay consistent with your workouts and wellness practices.
- When you are out celebrating, remember the 80/20 rule.
- If we stay healthy 80% of the time, it’s okay to indulge 20% of the time, or better yet 90/10 going into the New Year!
